How did you first get into surfing?
It's actually pretty funny. I used to be super scared of surfing, all my friends started surfing way before I did. I used to think that I would fall off the board, hit my head against a rock, and die. But yeah, one of my friends had a surf party for her birthday, we were 11 at the time, and the group decided to teach me in the foamies. Those foamies looked huge! But I did it. On my first try, I stood up and surfed the wave all the way to the sand. And I never stopped surfing since. Did my first comp after 2 months, and ended up competing for many more years.
Describe what surfing means to you in 3 words:
Exciting, grounding, peace
What is your dream surf destination?
Gold Coast Australia, specifically Snapper Rocks And Honolulu Bay in Hawaii
What do you do outside of the water?
I'm an early retired chef, I just missed spending time at the beach and in the water. So now i work at Natural Energy Surf store, coach, and bake for a little bakery in Somerset Wes
Do you prefer a dawny surf or sunset surf?
Whenever there are waves I guess! But prefer dawnies when there are only a handful of people in the water and I can see the sun rise, just love the feeling afterward and I know the rest of the day is still ahead of me.
Longboard or shortboard?
Shortboard, I've got a 5'6 baby pink board that I call Stacy
What's your favorite post-surf snack?
I make these super delicious banana muffins, so when I have baked a batch it would be that. Otherwise, a berry smoothie to get the salty taste out of my mouth.
